By World Pulse

In 2019, the leadership and impact of our community members grew exponentially across 190 countries. The number of voices speaking out tripled. In our annual impact survey, members reported feeling more heard, connected, and confident on World Pulse than in years prior — and creating even more impact in their communities as a result.

This year, the global pandemic has meant that online spaces have shifted from playing a supporting role in women’s global movements and livelihoods to a primary one. But in 2019, World Pulse was a step ahead, preparing for the global crises to come by strengthening our platform.

At this crucial moment in history, World Pulse is using technology to activate women’s voices and solutions everywhere to create a resilient future.

As the world’s leading safe, supportive online community connecting women worldwide for change, we know that women’s leadership is vital to building inclusive pathways in times of global crisis.

In 2019, the leadership and impact of our community members grew exponentially across 190 countries. The number of voices speaking out tripled. In our annual impact survey, members reported feeling more heard, connected, and confident on World Pulse than in years prior — and creating even more impact in their communities as a result.

In fact, more than 7 out of 10 members surveyed reported that because of their involvement with World Pulse, they took action in their community.

They shared that global visibility and network connections on WorldPulse.com were instrumental to their changemaking activities, enabling them to positively impact 4.8 million more lives in 2019. To date, we’ve tracked members expanding their leadership to impact 17.4 million people through launching or growing businesses, movements, social programs, or awareness campaigns that have resulted in local or national policy change, expanded resource allocation, or transformed social norms.

Our decade of experience has shown us that when women are heard and connected, they can change the world — online and off.

The world needs women’s leadership. We are growing more leaders, faster. Our established online leadership pathways and programs are accelerating women’s leadership growth and impact across all of the Sustainable Development Goals. Our unique women’s Digital Ambassador program alone supported 115 leaders to train more than 1.2 million people in digital empowerment through 205 events across 25 countries.

The world needs to hear the voices of those most impacted. We are raising the volume. We deployed our unique crowdsourcing methodology to deliver women’s recommendations on peace and security to decision-making forums such as the US State Department, advocacy partners, and United Nations media outlets. We launched ethical research and data principles efforts and laid plans to increase the pace of our crowdsourcing methods to deliver more voices to the media and the halls of power.

Women’s movements need greater online collective power. We are linking them. We broke through the silos and disconnection that are holding movements back and launched 18 topic and region hubs, fostering cross-sector networking for leaders and organizations.

Thanks to you, women everywhere are logging on and rising up. Their fingers may be on the keyboard, but their feet are firmly planted on the ground, making change on their own terms and improving the lives of those around them.

We are not only telling their stories - we are banding together to write a new one.
